As part of the Sky Arts Ignition Series, over the next three years Sky Arts will be teaming up with six leading arts organisations to fund groundbreaking art, events and performances. Doug Aitken: The Source is the first of these, and has Doug Aitken asking a range of creatives where their creative ideas start and how do they realise them.
These films are being shown in a beautifully constructed circular pavilion outside Tate Liverpool till 13 Jan 2013, and are four minutes long each, having been cut down to the bare minimum time it takes to convey the essence of each artist.
While you can watch all the videos here, these are my favorites.
Doug Aitken on The Source
With actress, artist, performer Tilda Swinton
With architect David Adjaye (they collaborated on constructing the pavilion for The Source)
With singer-songwriter, visual artist Devendra Banhart
With architect Liz Diller
With architect Jacques Herzog
These are sneak peeks into their creative thought processes.
