Bruno Quinquet’s Salaryman Project

There’s something about nameless, faceless office-goers that fascinates us. And Bruno Quinquet with his Salaryman Project  hits the nail on the head.

From 2008 to 2011, he has been capturing images of Tokyo business men as they make their way to and from work, take power naps after lunch, and contemplate life between tasks on their to-do lists. While the men themselves appear in sedate greys and blacks, Quinquet’s backgrounds make for colorful juxtapositions, especially when his salarymen are posed in verdant surroundings.

We’d be interested to see just how different these images would have been if Quinquet had used female subjects.  But for now we’ll bask in the quiet solitude of these images as we go through the rest of his archive.
